These terms apply when you use bs-steam.com or team271.com (the "sites"). By using the sites you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the sites.

Who runs the sites

Bay Shore STEAM Corporation (BS-STEAM), an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, runs both sites. team271.com is the website of FIRST Robotics Competition Team 271, the Mechanical Marauders. The Bay Shore Union Free School District (the District) runs Team 271; BS-STEAM supports it. The District is not a party to these terms, and BS-STEAM cannot speak for the District.

Contact: Info@BS-STEAM.com, or Bay Shore STEAM Corporation, 31 Tern Ct, Bay Shore, NY 11706.

Who may use the sites

Anyone may read the sites. Students under 18 are welcome, and we encourage them to use the sites with a parent's or guardian's knowledge. When a student under 18 writes to us, we reply with a parent or guardian copied. The newsletter on team271.com is for parents and guardians. A student's use of BS-STEAM's platforms, devices, tools and travel is governed by the BS-STEAM Consent and Agreement, which a parent or guardian signs, not by these terms.

Using what is on the sites

  • You may read, print and share pages and documents from the sites for personal, family, school and other non-commercial use, as long as you do not change them or remove notices on them.
  • Text, photos, logos and documents on the sites belong to BS-STEAM, to Team 271, to the people in or who took the photos, or to others who let us use them. Please ask before you reuse a photo or logo, and do not use a student's photo or name anywhere else. Write to Info@BS-STEAM.com.
  • Sponsor logos and names belong to the sponsors. FIRST, FIRST Robotics Competition and related marks belong to FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). Other product names belong to their owners.
  • Students keep ownership of what they create; the Consent and Agreement (10.f) explains how team project work may be shared.
  • If you think something on the sites uses your work without permission, or you want a photo of yourself or your child taken down, email Info@BS-STEAM.com.

Please do not

  • try to break into, overload or disrupt the sites, or get around their security;
  • use the newsletter form or our email addresses to send spam, or sign someone else up without their permission;
  • copy the sites in bulk with automated tools, or use them to collect other people's contact details;
  • use the sites in a way that breaks the law or harms anyone.

The sites link to sites we do not run, such as FIRST, Donorbox, PayPal, Venmo, Instagram, YouTube and the vendors on the team271.com Links page. We include them because we think they are useful, but we do not control them and are not responsible for them. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.

Giving

  • A gift by check or through Donorbox or Venmo is a gift to Bay Shore STEAM Corporation, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. A gift through PayPal Giving Fund is made to PayPal Giving Fund, which grants it to BS-STEAM and sends you the receipt. BS-STEAM uses gifts for its charitable purposes, supporting STEAM programs and the students in them. If you want a gift used for one program, tell us in writing; we honor a restriction that fits our purposes, but cannot accept a gift meant to benefit one particular student or family.
  • Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You receive a receipt from the payment service. For a gift of $250 or more made directly to BS-STEAM, we also send a written acknowledgment with the details the IRS asks for.
  • Donorbox, PayPal, Venmo and Square have their own terms, which apply to the payment.
  • If you made a mistake with a gift, email Info@BS-STEAM.com within 30 days and we will try to help.
  • New York disclosure: Bay Shore STEAM Corporation will file its first annual financial report with the New York State Attorney General's Charities Bureau by November 16, 2026. It will then be available from us at 31 Tern Ct, Bay Shore, NY 11706, or from the Charities Registry at www.charitiesnys.com. Information on charitable organizations is available from the Attorney General at www.charitiesnys.com or (212) 416-8686.

No promises about the sites

We try to keep the sites accurate and working, but we provide them "as is". Event dates, times, prices, schedules and other details can change, and the sites may be out of date, have mistakes, or be unavailable at times. To the extent the law allows, BS-STEAM makes no warranties about the sites, express or implied.

Limits on our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, BS-STEAM, its directors, officers, mentors and volunteers are not responsible for losses that come from using, or being unable to use, the sites or the sites they link to. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit.

New York law and where disputes are heard

New York law governs these terms, and any dispute about them or the sites is heard in the courts of Suffolk County, New York. This matches Section 10.b of the BS-STEAM Consent and Agreement.

Accessibility

We try to make both sites easy for everyone to use, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation or larger text. If something on a site is hard for you to use, or you need a document in another format, email Info@BS-STEAM.com and we will help.

Changes

We may change these terms. When we do, we post the new version here and change the "Last updated" date. Changes apply from that date.

Privacy

How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
